Career Experience
I won the 2010 History Department Award at my high school, which is “[g]iven to a student who has sought to develop a sophisticated understanding of the past, demonstrated a compelling interest in historical questions, and has held himself to the highest standards of scholarship.” I received a 5 on the AP US History exam and a 4 on the AP European History exam. My bachelor’s thesis in history was awarded honors as well. I received an incredible undergraduate education in professional historiography and in the substantive arc of American history. My coursework and research had a particular emphasis on 20th Century and political history. In my first job, I was responsible for leading efforts to promote the history of Times Square to city residents and visitors. I developed a walking tour of the Times Square area and partnered to develop a website highlighting the history of the New Year’s Eve ball drop. In recent years, I worked as a litigator, which leaves me quite well-suited to assist history students with developing cogent, logical arguments and expertly deploying relevant facts.
I Love Tutoring Because
US History is my passion. I have always been drawn to the story of the society around us. I tutor in the subject because I love it and because I want to help students who may be stuck on dates, names, or other historical data to see how plugging into the narrative and drama of history is really the door to academic success.
