Overview
From The School
AUC's Admissions Committee considers many factors when reviewing an applicant for consideration. These include undergraduate performance and MCAT score, as well as intellectual and social maturity, critical judgment, adaptability, volunteer work, life experiences, and graduate school performance (if applicable). We call this a holistic approach to admissions—a process that looks at an applicant as a whole person, not an exam score.
Evaluation for admission is conducted on an individual basis. We encourage all applicants to speak with a member of our admissions team to discuss their opportunity to attend AUC, including the competitiveness of their MCAT scores, undergraduate GPA and other requirements.
Students interested in applying to AUC may take our no obligation admissions assessment to find out if they are a good candidate.

Once students move into their clinical rotations in either the U.S. or U.K., they also have the opportunity to participate in a global health elective where they may choose from one of six countries to complete a six-week clinical rotation.
Throughout their medical school journey, students are supported by professors and instructors and have access to many programs that may help with course material, tutoring, coaching, or mental health support to excel in both their academic and personal lives.

American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine's internationally recognized Doctor of Medicine (MD) program offers a rigorous academic experience designed to prepare students to succeed on all parts of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations® (USMLE). Our students learn from knowledgeable, dedicated faculty members and train in unique global settings, with transformative clinical opportunities available in the United States, United Kingdom, and abroad.
Our four-year Medical Doctor (MD) degree program curriculum is comprised of 10 semesters: five semesters of medical sciences taught at our campus on Sint Maarten and five semesters of clinical sciences taught at hospitals affiliated with the university. Three semesters of 16 weeks each are scheduled per year beginning in January, May, and/or September.
Since 2019, the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) has partnered with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to offer two distinct points of entry to enable non-US citizen students to earn an AUC medical degree, with at least part of their education in the United Kingdom (UK). This degree track is open to qualified non-US citizen students holding a Bachelor's degree who seek a rigorous medical education program designed to help them master the basic medical sciences and develop the necessary clinical skills to practice medicine.
