THE PRINCETON REVIEW RELEASES SAT® SCORE QUEST APP FOR IPAD
NEW YORK, April 5, 2011 — The Princeton Review, a national leader in education services and test preparation, today announced its SAT® Score Quest™ App for iPad is now available on the App Store. SAT Score Quest is built upon The Princeton Review's 30 years of expertise in preparing college-bound students for the SAT while leveraging the large, high-resolution display and Multi-Touch capabilities of iPad.
The SAT Score Quest App allows students to select their SAT score goals and take a short assessment designed to diagnose their relative strengths in the Critical Reading, Math and Writing sections of the SAT. Students can then immediately receive a personalized score report which guides their SAT preparation efforts. The app also contains short ShowMe lessons to each SAT problem on the assessment, in which an expert tutor demonstrates The Princeton Review's unique methodology for teaching students to arrive at the right answer as efficiently as possible. These visual lessons include the tutor's handwritten solutions to each question as well as an accompanying spoken explanation.
Additionally, the app allows students to record themselves working through SAT problems, using their finger to virtually write notes and answers on iPad's Multi-Touch display, just as they would write on an SAT test booklet—underlining, drawing diagrams, and crossing out wrong answer choices. Students can then play back these recordings to reinforce what they have learned, or to share these exercises with a parent, teacher or friend.
Innovative, high-quality test prep is the core of The Princeton Review's mission,
said Scott Kirkpatrick, president of The Princeton Review's Higher Ed Readiness division. Whether in our books, mobile apps, online courses or in-person courses, The Princeton Review gives students the best tools with which to achieve their educational goals. We are excited to bring The Princeton Review experience to iPad.
The SAT Score Quest App was developed by mobile app firm Easel, who created the unique method for leveraging the Multi-Touch display of iPad to allow for recording and playback of interactive step-by-step solutions, known as ShowMe. The Princeton Review's ShowMe lessons capture the effectiveness of an instructor teaching on a whiteboard using high-fidelity visuals and video clips for each solution. ShowMe has proven to be a highly effective way to engage students and to showcase the strength of The Princeton Review's teaching methodology,
said Kirkpatrick.
The Princeton Review's SAT Score Quest App is the latest innovation from the firm that has put need-to-have test prep tools in the hands of students since the release of its New York Times bestselling book, Cracking The System: The SAT, in 1986. Since then, The Princeton Review has established a reputation for excellence in preparing college-bound students for the SAT and ACT college entrance exams, as well as graduate school entrance exams such as the MCAT, LSAT, GMAT and GRE. In 2009, The Princeton Review released its first mobile app for iPhone and iPod touch, SAT® Vocab Challenge, which instantly became a go-to resource for aspiring college students across America.
The SAT Score Quest App is available for free from the App Store on iPad or at Apple's App Store.
