The MCAT is required, and scores cannot be more than five years old. A baccalaureate degree is required for entrance to Dalhousie Medicine. There are no absolute prerequisite courses, though a minimal science background is advisable for success on the MCAT. Maritime applicants (those from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island) should have a minimum academic average of a B+, while non-Maritime applicants should have at least an A average.
Many graduates choose to enter postgraduate training at Dalhousie. Areas of training include Family Practice, numerous surgical and medical specialties, and laboratory medicine.
